The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games will combine elite sports and science in an unique way. The FISU Games offer a special opportunity to give Germany and especially the Sportland.NRW and the scientific region North Rhine-Westphalia more international awareness and bring them into focus.
With the FISU Games not only participants will be addressed, but also their universities in approximately 170 countries. Subsequently, relationships and networks will be created that will start way before the event begins and will remain long after. With this they will make a clear contribution to internationalization of the universities. The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games will offer the unique opportunity to further develop the multiple aspects of university sports at the adh-member universities.
The academic programme, that takes place prior to and during the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, is one of the core elements of the event. In its centre the international and interdisciplinary exchange between the universities, the students and the partners of politics and science will be first and foremost.
The international science congress, the "FISU World Conference", builds the heart of the academic programme.
Complimentary to this and in close cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Science in North Rhine-Westphalia, the State Rectors’ Conference and the universities, science congresses and workshops on future issues such as mobility, digitalisation, inclusion or good governance will be offered.
Specific formats for athletes, volunteers, media professionals or medical staff will round out this educational programme.
The detailed concept of this academic programme will take place in close agreement with the educational and science partners of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games as well as FISU.
